Trusted Contacts
Updated
by Hitchhyke Admin
Hitchhyke's "Trusted Contacts" feature is designed to enhance your safety by keeping your loved ones informed about your trips. This guide will walk you through the process of adding Trusted Contacts to your Hitchhyke account.
What are Trusted Contacts?
Trusted Contacts are individuals, such as family members, friends, or significant others, who you trust and want to share your ride details with. Whenever you take a ride with Hitchhyke, you can have the app automatically share your trip details, including real-time location, with your Trusted Contacts. In case of emergencies, Trusted Contacts can also be notified.
Mandatory for Users Under 18: If you are under 18, you must add Trusted Contacts to your Hitchhyke account. At least one of your Trustest Contacts must be a verified Hitchhyke user who is 18 or older. This is part of our commitment to ensuring the safety and well-being of our younger riders.
Adding Trusted Contacts
At Hitchhyke, the safety of our Riders and Drivers is paramount. Trusted Contacts is a feature designed to enhance safety for both groups. You can add up to five Trusted Contacts during the account creation process or at any time afterwards. Here's how Riders and Drivers can add Trusted Contacts:
- Open the Hitchhyke app and go to the main menu.
- Find and tap on the "Trusted Contacts" option.
- Tap on the "Add Trusted Contact" button.
- Enter the requested details of your contact:
- Their name
- Their phone number
- Their email address
- Their relationship to you
- Decide and select whether you want this contact to be notified during emergencies.
- Decide and select whether you want this contact to be automatically sent a notification when you (as a Rider or Driver) start a ride, along with a link to view the ride in real-time.
- Tap on "Save" to add this contact to your Trusted Contacts list.
You can edit these preferences or remove a contact from your Trusted Contacts list at any time.
The Trusted Contacts feature is just one of the ways Hitchhyke prioritizes your safety. By connecting you with the people who care about you, we aim to ensure that you feel secure every step of your journey, whether you're a Rider seeking transportation or a Driver offering a ride. If you have any questions about this feature or need further assistance, don't hesitate to reach out to our support team. Stay safe with Hitchhyke!
