At Hitchhyke, we place a high value on the trust and safety of our community. To ensure this, we've set clear guidelines for our drivers that are essential to maintain our platform's integrity. This guide will walk you through the driver requirements at Hitchhyke.

Driver's License

A valid driver's license is mandatory for all Hitchhyke drivers. The license must be clearly photographed and uploaded to your profile. Ensure that your name and date of birth on the license matches the details you've provided during registration. Also, the Taxpayer Registration Number (TRN) on the license must match the TRN you entered during registration. Lastly, the image on the driver's license should correspond to both your profile picture and your verification image.

Police Record

To establish a safe environment for all Hitchhyke users, we require all drivers to upload a valid police record. This document helps us ensure that our drivers have a history of law-abiding behavior, adding an additional layer of trust and security for our passengers.

Applying for a Police Record: Drivers must apply for a valid police record as part of the Hitchhyke registration process. You can follow the instructions provided at this link to apply for your police record. This is an essential requirement to ensure the integrity of our platform and the safety of our passengers.

Updating your Police Record: It is crucial for all Hitchhyke drivers to provide a new police record before the old one expires. Keeping this document up-to-date demonstrates an ongoing commitment to law-abiding behavior and ensures continuous trust and safety within the Hitchhyke community.

Proof of Address

A current proof of address is also a mandatory requirement. This can be a utility bill or any other official document that clearly states your name and current residential address. This document must be clearly photographed and uploaded to your profile.

Validity and Renewal: The proof of address provided is valid for 1 year from the date of upload. Drivers are responsible for ensuring that a new proof of address is uploaded before the old one expires. Failure to update this document in a timely manner may lead to restrictions on your ability to offer rides on the Hitchhyke platform.

Please make sure to keep your proof of address up to date to avoid any interruptions in your ability to use the Hitchhyke service.

Expiry Notifications and Suspension

To keep all documents up-to-date, our system sends in-app notifications at regular intervals reminding you of any expiring documents, such as your driver's license or police record. In the event a document expires, your account will be temporarily suspended. You will not be able to accept ride requests until the expired document is renewed and updated on your profile.

Currently, drivers will receive notifications 30 days, 10 days, and 24 hours before each document expires.
