How ride earnings are calculated

To see your ride earnings for a ride, go to the 'My Earnings' tab in the app.
Ride earnings calculation
Your earnings depend on three things: a set starting fee, how far you drive, and the per-kilometer rate you choose.
- Starting Fee: A fixed amount you get just for starting a ride. This is set by Hitchhyke and can vary by location.
- Distance Driven: How many kilometers you drive during the trip.
- Per-KM Rate: What you charge per kilometer, which you set each time you go online.
Minimum and Maximum Rates:
- The lowest rate you can set is determined by Hitchhyke to ensure fair earnings for all drivers.
- The highest rate adjusts based on other drivers and passengers in your area. This can change each time you go online.

After you cancel or drop off a ride, we no longer track the time and distance of the trip. If you accidentally cancel or end a ride early, you should ask your passenger to request a new ride.
Passenger payments
Passengers are charged an upfront price for their rides. This amount is based on the estimated distance of the ride, plus any applicable tolls entered by the driver.
This upfront price also includes Hitchhyke’s fees and any third-party fees. These fees don’t impact the amount you earn, and won’t be reflected in your 'My Trips' or 'My Earnings' tabs.
Passengers may also be charged for cancellations and no-shows.
When you get paid
Your earnings are immediately transferred to your connected Stripe account and made available to you for withdrawals into your personal account.
Minimum & maximum fares
There’s a minimum and maximum fare limit for every ride. These limits are based on the region where you pick up the passenger.
Minimum fare
The minimum fare is the lowest amount you can earn for a ride. If a trip is very short, your earnings will be rounded up to this amount.
Maximum fare
The maximum fare is the highest amount you can earn for a ride and would prevent passengers from requesting a ride if it would exceed the maximum fare.
Currently, there is no maximum fare set for the Jamaican region(s).
Subregion rates
Some cities have subregions with different rates. If you pick up a ride in a subregion, your ride earnings will be based on those rates.
