Driver and passenger ratings
Updated
by Hitchhyke Admin
At the end of the ride, drivers and passengers can rate each other on a scale of 1–5 stars, 5 being the best. Our two-way rating system helps ensure the safety and comfort of the Hitchhyke community.
You should base your rating on your ride experience. You'll have the option to provide specific feedback, so we know which areas to improve.
Rating your driver
Passengers must rate their driver from the 'Trip Completed' screen in the app after the ride has ended. All feedback submitted is anonymous and reviewed before shared with drivers.
To change a driver rating or give driver feedback:
- Go to ‘My Trips’ and tap the ride
- Tap ‘Edit Rating,’
- Submit your updated rating
After the ride has ended, you have 24 hours to update your rating in the My Trips tab.
If you rate your driver 2 stars or lower, you won't be paired with them again.
Rating your passenger
You’ll get a chance to rate your passenger after you drop off the ride. You can let us know about any issues you had with your passenger when you rate them.
After you end the ride, you have 24 hours to change your rating in the My Trips tab:
- Go to ‘My Trips’ and tap the ride
- Tap ‘Edit Rating,’
- Submit your updated rating
If you rate a passenger 2 stars or lower, you won't be paired with them again.
How Hitchhyke calculates ratings
Driver rating
Your driver rating is the average of your last 100 ratings. If you have less than 100 rides, your driver rating is the average of all your ratings received so far. Ratings may say 'new' if you have fewer than 15 rides.
Your overall rating can be see on the home screen in the app.
Passengers can write anonymous feedback about their ride.
Consistently low ratings can put you at risk of deactivation. If your rating is below 4.0, you may want to consider ways to improve it.
Passenger rating
Your rider rating is an average of your last 100 rides. If you have fewer than 100 rides, your rating is the average of all your rides. Ratings may say 'new' if you have fewer than 20 rides.
To see your rating in the app:
- Tap your logo in the main menu
- View your rating, ride count, and time spent with Hitchhyke.
Be sure to follow our Community Guidelines during your ride. Guideline violations or consistent low ratings can put your account at risk of deactivation.
If you receive a rating of 2 stars or lower multiple times, your account may be temporarily suspended. Riders that continue to receive ratings of 2 stars or lower, even after multiple warnings, may be permanently deactivated.
We rely on the star rating input from multiple drivers to determine suspension and deactivation.
Unfair ratings
If you feel that a driver or passenger rated you poorly due to something out of your control, you can request a review through the app.
To dispute a rating:
- Tap 'My Trips.'
- Select the ride you want to provide feedback on.
- Tap 'Report an issue.'
- Select the reason for your feedback before submitting.
Hitchhyke can exclude the lowest rating received out of your last 100 rides. Requests for multiple rating exclusions aren’t guaranteed.
