How to Obtain Your Police Record in Jamaica for Hitchhyke Drivers

As a part of our commitment to safety, all Hitchhyke drivers in Jamaica are required to provide a police record. Below is a step-by-step guide on how to obtain it. Please note that this information is based on the latest guidelines from the Jamaica Constabulary Force (JCF) and the Ministry of National Security (MNS) as of 2023-11-13. Step 1: Pay the Fee

  1. Visit any Tax Administration of Jamaica (TAJ) Office with your Tax Registration Number (TRN).
  2. Choose your service type and make the payment:
    • Regular Service (21 working days): J$3,000
    • Express Service (5 working days): J$6,000

Step 2: Complete the Online Application Form

  1. Go to the JCF website: https://jcf.gov.jm.
  2. Click “Police Record” and complete the application form.
  3. You will need to upload:
    • A passport-sized photograph
    • TAJ receipt
    • Valid government ID
  4. On page 4 of the application form, enter the following responses to the presented questions:
    1. Name and address of Company/Embassy, Etc
      • Hitchhyke LLC, 34 Lady Musgrave Road, Unit # 19 , Kingston 5 , Jamaica
    2. Reason for acquiring a Police Record
      • Hitchhyke Driver Application

Step 3: Select Your Appointment Date

  1. After submitting the application, choose an appointment date using the online calendar.
  2. You will receive an email with the completed application. Print this for your appointment.

Step 4: Your Appointment at the Criminal Records Office

Bring the following to your appointment at 56 Duke Street, Downtown Kingston:

  • Valid government-issued ID (Driver’s License, Elector Identification card, Passport)
  • Hard copy of the completed application form
  • One passport-sized photograph (same as uploaded)
  • TAJ receipt
Note: The fingerprinting process and a brief interview will be conducted. You'll be notified of the collection date for your Police Record/Certificate.

Step 5: Collect Your Police Record/Certificate

  • Collect your completed police record at the Police Oficers Club, 34 Hope Road, Kingston 6.
  • Available: Monday to Friday, 9:00 am to 2:00 pm

Additional Information:

Appointments for Express Services are scheduled for the earliest available date.
Passport-sized photos should not be certified or embossed.

Special Instructions for St. Mary, St. James, and Clarendon Residents:

  1. Pay at the nearest Tax Office and send a photo of the receipt via WhatsApp.
    • Clarendon: (876) 224-1014
    • St. Mary: (876) 833-5904
    • St. James: (876) 224-1012
  2. You will receive a WhatsApp response with your appointment date.
  3. On the appointment day, bring the necessary documents and complete the application form at the respective sub-site office.
