Driver policies for Hitchhyke rides

At Hitchhyke, we strive to create a positive, secure, and enjoyable experience for both drivers and passengers. To achieve this goal, we have developed a set of policies that all drivers must adhere to when using our platform. These policies aim to promote safety, professionalism, and trust within the Hitchhyke community.
Driver Eligibility and Requirements:
- All drivers must be at least 21 years of age and possess a valid driver’s license.
- Drivers must provide proof of valid insurance and vehicle registration.
- Drivers are required to provide annual police screening reports, which detail criminal and driving records.
- Drivers must maintain a clean driving record, with no history of DUIs, major traffic violations, or criminal convictions related to driving
Vehicle Standards and Maintenance:
- All vehicles used on the Hitchhyke platform must have up-to-date fitness inspection documents and meet our vehicle age and condition requirements.
- Drivers are responsible for maintaining their vehicles in a safe and clean condition, including regular inspections, maintenance, and repairs as necessary.
- Smoking is not allowed in vehicles while operating on the Hitchhyke platform.
Professional Conduct:
- Drivers are expected to maintain a professional appearance and attitude at all times while using the Hitchhyke platform.
- Courteous, respectful behavior towards passengers is required, and discrimination or harassment of any kind is strictly prohibited.
- Drivers must always follow traffic laws and prioritize safety during each ride.
Transparent and Fair Pricing:
- Drivers must adhere to the fare structure set by Hitchhyke and are prohibited from requesting or demanding additional payment beyond the fare displayed in the app.
- Manipulation of fares or intentionally taking longer routes to increase the fare without the passenger’s consent is not allowed.
Zero-Tolerance Drug and Alcohol Policy:
- Hitchhyke enforces a strict zero-tolerance policy for drug and alcohol use by drivers while using the platform. Violation of this policy can result in suspension or removal from the platform.
- Drivers also have the right to refuse service to passengers suspected of being under the influence of drugs or alcohol.
No Solicitation and Extortion:
- Drivers are prohibited from soliciting or advertising products, services, or business ventures while using the Hitchhyke platform.
- Extortion or threats of any kind to manipulate passengers into paying more than the agreed-upon fare is strictly forbidden.
Privacy and Confidentiality:
- Drivers must respect the privacy of passengers and are prohibited from sharing personal information, such as phone numbers or addresses, with others.
- Drivers are not allowed to contact passengers outside of the Hitchhyke platform without explicit consent from the passenger.
Incident Reporting and Resolution:
- Drivers are encouraged to report any safety incidents, policy violations, or concerns through the Hitchhyke app or by contacting our customer support team.
- We are committed to addressing and resolving issues promptly and fairly, taking appropriate actions that may include warnings, suspensions, or removal from the platform.
