Mutual respect and courtesy

  • Treat all passengers, drivers, and support staff with respect and courtesy.
  • Avoid using offensive language, hate speech, or engaging in discriminatory behavior.
  • Report any disrespectful behavior through the app's reporting system.

No Solicitation

  • Our No Solicitation Policy prohibits the following activities while using Hitchhyke:
    • Advertising, promoting, or selling products or services, including but not limited to, goods, subscriptions, or memberships.
    • Distributing flyers, brochures, business cards, or other promotional materials to passengers or drivers.
    • Requesting or soliciting donations, contributions, or investments for personal, political, or charitable purposes.
    • Conducting market research, surveys, or any form of data collection from passengers or drivers without explicit permission from Hitchhyke.
    • Recruiting or attempting to recruit passengers or drivers for employment, freelance work, or participation in multi-level marketing (MLM) schemes or similar business ventures.

Prohibition of Extortion and Fare Manipulation

  • Our Prohibition of Extortion and Fare Manipulation policy strictly forbids the following actions:
    • Drivers requesting or demanding additional payment from passengers beyond the fare displayed in the app.
    • Drivers refusing to complete a trip unless the passenger agrees to pay extra, either in cash or through other payment methods.
    • Drivers intentionally taking longer routes or delaying the trip to increase the fare without the passenger's consent.
    • Any form of threats, coercion, or intimidation by drivers to manipulate passengers into paying more than the agreed-upon fare.
    We encourage passengers to report any instances of extortion or fare manipulation through the app. We are dedicated to ensuring a fair, transparent, and enjoyable ridesharing experience for all users and appreciate your cooperation in adhering to these guidelines.

Prioritize safety

  • Drivers must adhere to local traffic laws and regulations at all times.
  • Passengers should always buckle up and not distract the driver while the vehicle is in motion.
  • Do not use the ridesharing platform while under the influence of alcohol or drugs.

Keep personal information private

  • Do not share personal contact information, such as phone numbers or addresses, with other users.
  • Use the in-app messaging system for any communication related to the ride.
  • Report any user who requests personal information or exhibits inappropriate behavior.

Maintain vehicle cleanliness and comfort

  • Drivers should keep their vehicles clean and well-maintained for the comfort of passengers.
  • Passengers should respect the driver's vehicle by not causing damage, littering, or consuming food and beverages without permission.

Zero tolerance for violence and harassment

  • Any form of violence, threats, or harassment is strictly prohibited and may result in account suspension or termination.
  • If you feel unsafe or threatened during a ride, immediately report the incident through the app or contact local authorities.

Uphold app guidelines and policies

  • Users should adhere to the platform's guidelines, policies, and terms of service at all times.
  • Any violation of these rules may result in penalties, including temporary or permanent account suspension.

Timeliness and cancellation

  • Both drivers and passengers should strive to be punctual for pickups.
  • Users should communicate any delays or cancellations through the app.
  • Repeated cancellations or no-shows may result in penalties or account suspension.

Transparent and fair ratings

  • Provide honest and fair ratings for your driver or passenger to maintain a reliable and trustworthy community.
  • If you encounter any issues during a ride, report it through the app's support system rather than resorting to negative ratings.
  • Hitchhyke encourages passengers and drivers to rate and review each other after every ride.

Promote accessibility and inclusivity

  • Users should respect and accommodate the needs of people with disabilities.
  • Drivers should make reasonable efforts to assist passengers with mobility devices or service animals.
  • Discrimination based on race, ethnicity, religion, gender, or any other protected status is strictly prohibited.
