Hitchhyke Verification Process
Updated
by Hitchhyke Admin
At Hitchhyke, we're committed to fostering a safe and trustworthy community. Our verification process for both riders and drivers reflects this commitment. Here's a detailed look at our verification procedures:
1. Rider Verification Process
While rider verification is optional, it's highly recommended. If you choose to verify your account as a rider, here's how it works:
a. Government-Issued ID: Provide a clear copy of a valid driver's license, national ID, or passport. The photo on the ID must match your verification image.
b. Proof of Address: Submit a current proof of address.
Why Verify as a Rider? Verification enhances safety, trust, and improves your chances of securing rides, especially with drivers who prefer verified riders. It also allows you to use the Direct Hyke feature on Hitchhyke.
2. Driver Verification
Driver verification is mandatory. Here's what you'll need:
a. Driver's License: Upload a clear photograph of a valid driver's license. Ensure all details match your registration.
b. Police Record: All drivers must upload a valid police record.
c. Proof of Address: Provide a current proof of address.
3. Driver Control Over Requests
Drivers have complete control over the ride requests they receive. They can set preferences to not receive requests from unverified riders, giving them added security and flexibility.
4. Vehicle Requirements
The following vehicle requirements ensure safety and compliance:
a. Vehicle Age and Size: No more than 15 years old, with at least four doors and five seatbelts.
b. Vehicle Documentation: Valid insurance, fitness certificate, and registration are required.
c. Vehicle Images: Drivers must upload clear images of both the interior and exterior of their vehicle. These images are for Hitchhyke's use to verify the vehicle's condition and the accuracy of uploaded documents, not for rider identification.
Hitchhyke's verification process aims to create a safe and reliable experience for all users. We strongly encourage riders to undergo the verification process, while drivers must fulfill our verification criteria.
For questions or assistance with the verification process, reach out to our support team via the Contact Us form on our website. Together, we'll build a community focused on safety, trust, and convenience.
